Hi, I'm a relocated Los Angeles yogi looking for Anusara in the San Mateo/Burlingame/peninsula and further south area... I know about the studios in Marin, SF and Berkeley, but I'm having trouble locating anything closer to my temporary home base. Any ideas the kula could share would be tremendously appreciated!

Re: Anusara on the Peninsula or further down 101/280?
Tue, June 20, 2006 - 1:45 PMHello, and welcome to NorCal. Yes, there is Anusara in the Peninsula, but not as much as you're used to in LA. I moved here from LA in Jan 2005 myself and carried out the same search you are. Currently these are the classes taught in the South Bay, that I'm aware of, taught by individuals with formal and complete backgrounds in Anusara teacher training:
Me (Tony Giannetti). Avalon Art and Yoga, Thursday 7:15, Level 2-3
Chrissy Graham: Avalon Art and Yoga: Tues/Thurs, 9:30am, level 1-2
Monday 5:30, beginners
Yoga of Los Altos: Tuesday, 7pm, level 1-2
Kenny Graham: Yoga is Youthfulness, Sunday 10am-11:15am Mixed
Sunday 11:30-1pm, inter/advanced
Yoga of Los Altos (check the schedule frequently): Some Saturdays, level 1-2
Samantha Matthews: Avalon Art and Yoga, Tuesday, 7:15, Level 2-3
You might also see Winter Borg or Janelle Wolf subbing classes at various studios around town. They're also good.
You should also know that, for the time being, the 1st Saturday of each month is the 3-hour eye of the tiger at Yoga Treet Hayes with Stacey Rosenberg. It's a blast.
Hope to see you at some classes. Introduce yourself if you come to mine. Hope to see you there,
Tony -

Wed, June 21, 2006 - 10:49 AMYou rule, Tony! I can't wait to get back into class and on the mat (practicing at home has lost its luster.) And thanks also to Scott for the Tony endorsement--that means a lot coming from a City Yoga devotee. Namaste!

Re: Anusara on the Peninsula or further down 101/280?
Thu, December 28, 2006 - 11:37 AMHowdy!
I'm a recent transplant from LA to the Peninsula...and have been seeking a yummy yoga experience to compliment my LA Yoga Studio....
So far, it's a great challenge. I'm also looking for stuff that starts after 7 pm, which seems impossible. -

Re: Anusara on the Peninsula or further down 101/280?
Mon, January 1, 2007 - 1:42 AMHi. After 7 is tough. The only two teachers Anusara trained in the South Bay are myself and Samantha Matthews. We both teach at Avalon Art and Yoga (www.avalonyoga.com). She teaches Tuesdays and I teach Thursdays. 7:15pm. The energy of our classes is different, and I feel complimentary to each other, so come try us out. If you want a LONG practice, come to my class on the first Thursday of the month, and a few minutes after my class starts we have Samyana lead by another teacher at the studio, John Berg. He brings an awesome music mix and it's a self-directed practice for 90 minutes. Very sweet group. Let me know if you have any questions!
May grace bring you what your heart seeks,
Tony
